if you’re looking for a longer shear go I’d go by these increments :

5 to 6
5.5 to 6
6 to 7

No larger than 7. Anything larger than a 7 has blades that are longer than their handles which means they’ll be front heavy and make your hand feel like it’s nose diving and hard to balance.
